Meet Scorpion

A few details help explain this feature. Moves build down in the same suit rather than allowing cross-suit destinations. Four complete King-to-Ace runs clear the game. Scorpion on hzxydec.com uses one 52-card deck with four suits. The tableau has seven columns.

Read the opening cards

The first three cards in each of the first four columns are face down. Each opening column contains seven cards for a total of 49 tableau cards. All cards in the last three columns are face up. Three cards remain in the stock.

Check rank and suit together

Keep these points in mind. A moved group's leading card must land on a card exactly one rank higher in the same suit. A seven of hearts can land on an exposed eight of hearts. A seven of hearts cannot land on an eight of spades. A King cannot land on another card because no higher rank exists.

Order within a group may vary

Here are the details for this mode. Any face-up card can be selected together with every card beneath it. The leading selected card still has to meet the destination rule. The selected cards do not need to descend in rank to travel together. The selected cards do not need to share a suit to travel together.

Only Kings fill empty space

The following details apply here. A group led by a lower rank cannot enter an empty column. An empty column accepts a King or a group led by a King. Cards beneath a moved King do not need to be in sequence. An empty column is therefore less flexible than an empty column in ordinary Spider.

Uncover another choice

The following details apply here. Undo restores the earlier hidden-card arrangement when the move is reversed. The next hidden card is revealed automatically. An exposed card can carry the cards beneath it when its own destination is legal. Removing all face-up cards above a hidden card turns that hidden card face up.

The final three cards

Here are the details for this mode. This Scorpion version permits its stock deal when columns are empty. Dealing places a face-up card on each of the first three columns. There are no further stock cards after the three-card deal. The stock contains one final deal of three cards.

Complete a suit

Keep these points in mind. All thirteen cards in a collected run must be face up. Moving an unordered group does not make that group a completed sequence. A completed run must descend from King to Ace in one suit. The game removes a qualifying run automatically from the bottom of a column.

Practice Scorpion decisions

Keep these points in mind. A move can carry unwanted cards along with a useful leading card. Replay and Undo let you explore another approach to the same layout. Checking the whole moved group helps you anticipate what will become blocked. Hint lists legal choices without promising a winning continuation.
